What sort of timeline are we looking at?

The timeframe depends on your project and what package you choose. Typically, for smaller projects, the turnaround time is two weeks once the design is complete, but for larger custom builds it takes longer depending on the scope of the work. Close client communication is important to us and the timeliness of your replies is imperative to keep the project on schedule. Our goal is to give you an effective website that helps your business.

Can you tell me about your process?

All of our packages start off with our 10 step planning process to identify not just the surface reason why you are getting a website, the real business purpose for it. This 10 step planning process is what separates websites hastily thrown together from effective websites that help your business.

Once your site is designed, we will begin the build. We build responsive websites for mobile, tablet and desktop from the very beginning. We have a thorough checklist for your site to ensure it’s testing across multiple browsers and devices.

The details of our complete build process and how we take you from design to launch to maintenance can be found here.

Will I have a chance to give feedback?

Yes, not only will you provide feedback, we also include you in the build process. During the development process, you will have access to the backend of your website and you’ll be able to add your own pages once the initial build process is complete. You will receive instructions on how to do this.

What will you do to make my site convert?

This primarily depends on the content you provide. In our 10 step planning process we will help set you up with the correct content that will convert.

Can you make my site rank #1 on Google right away?

No, anyone who is telling you that you can rank first on Google right out the door is lying or using illegal tactics.

Will my site be safe from hackers?

Security of websites is incredibly important and very commonly ignored by development companies.

We don’t skimp on Security here.

You will get a premium security set up with lifetime plugin updates. Spam is a nuance for most people, which is why from day 1 we set up spam prevention. Will my website be fast?

Many of our new launches load in 1-2 seconds after our optimization process. However, sometimes clients want a large number of images or third party integrations which increase the load time. Also, fast load times rely on high-quality fast servers, if the client chooses a low quality hosting company then they just won’t get the load times of other sites.

Will my site be mobile-friendly?

Yes, we have a thorough checklist for your site to ensure it’s testing across multiple browsers and devices.

Will I be able to make changes to the site?

Yes, you will be able to make changes to your site.

Will you give me access to the site when it’s all done?

Yes, and because we believe in not abandoning you once the site is live, you also get three months of maintenance included with your site. After that, you can choose a maintenance package or take over maintaining the website yourself with our easy maintenance checklist & email series.

Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes, we offer affordable ongoing maintenance packages or you can choose to do your own maintenance.

Do I have to host my website with you?

Nope. We generally host your staging website during the remodel process, but after you can either host with us or we’ll move it to your choice of cPanel or Managed WordPress hosting. We have a list of recommended hosting companies here.

Will you register my domain?

We’ll happily help you get your domain registered. And we’ll make sure you actually own it.

Do you work extended or weekend hours?

Usually. It’s not uncommon to get an email on Sunday evening from us. If you need to schedule a call for evenings or weekends, just let us know in advance. We work with several clients in Australia, so we can schedule 10pm at night on Skype.

Payments

Do you offer payment plans?

For small jobs (under $500) we normally bill in a single payment. For jobs under $1000 we normally bill 50% up front and 50% prior to launch. For larger jobs we divide payments into milestones based on the project.

We use PayPal invoices for the majority of billing, and they offer payment plans when you pay the invoice.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We do most billing through PayPal invoices. Other payment methods are available upon request, just let us know.

Who are your clients?

Our clients are a mix of small businesses, individuals, non-profit orgs, and marketing firms. The majority of our repeat business is marketing & SEO companies that we handle WordPress development & maintenance for.

Website Development

Do you build eCommerce sites?

We build and maintain eCommerce sites using WooCommerce. WooCommerce powers a third of the eCommerce on the internet and can accommodate most any need.

Can you convert my site to WordPress?

Yes. We’ve converted HTML, PHP, Joomla, and Flash sites to WordPress, just to name a few.

Do you work with platforms besides WordPress?

Not for web development. If we are the designer and you have a different developer, then probably yes.

Can I bring my own WordPress theme?

Usually. We’ve worked with plenty of clients who have brought their own themes that they purchased from marketplaces like ThemeForest.

Can I bring a custom Photoshop design from someone else?

Yes, lots of our clients come in with a Photoshop file from a designer, text from a copywriter, and a pile of photos from a photographer. We’ll review your items and let you know if there are any development red flags.

How do I update/maintain a WordPress site?

We have a number of tutorials here on our blog, and will provide you with a basic reference guide. However, many of our clients have found it’s easier to have us maintain their site than learn one more technical tool.

What if I need something later?

We keep records for most projects for at least one calendar year. This means if you email us 6 months after our project together, we’ll have something to remember you by. We also have maintenance contracts, which function a lot like a retainer. For clients on contracts, we are usually available to do small add-on quickly and larger add-on work as soon as we can schedule it. For clients without contracts, we will try to schedule you in, but understand that we may already be booked.
